C/G LADY EAGLE SPIKERS SPLIT PAIR AT ELYRIA

            ELYRIA – On Tuesday, the Canton/Galva volleyball team went to Elyria for a quad  where they split a pair of matches, hammering out a win over Peabody/Burns before getting humbled by defending state champion Little River.

            In  the match with Peabody/Burns, the Lady Eagles earned a straight set victory with a nine-point 25-16 win in the first set followed by a 25-9 hammering of the Lady Warriors in the second set.

            Freshman Aaliyah Skipworth and junior Trinity Espinoza led the Lady Eagle on offense by pumping out  eight and seven assists, respectively. On defense, Raegan Hawkinson recorded seven kills and made six digs. Skipworth and Jordyn Elliot each had three service aces.

            Against the defending state champions, Little River, Canton/Galva lost both sets with the first set being a humbling 6-25 defeat before they bounced back to come up just three points short in the second set, 22-25.

            Londyn Dietrich led the Lady Eagles in digs with seven while both Trinity Espinoza and Jordyn Elliot each had six.

            The Lady Eagles will take a 2-2 season record into Goessel on Saturday for the Goessel Invitational.
