MCMANNIS, DIEKER EARN MEDALS AT HESSTON

HESSTON – The youthful Canton/Galva cross country team found success with a pair of medal performances among the six Eagle runners at the Hesston Invitational Special on Thursday.
All six of the Eagle runners were underclassmen that including four freshman and a pair of sophomores.
A pair of freshmen led the Canton/Galva harriers as Faith McMannis finished ninth in the 5K small school freshman girls’ division with a personal best time of 24:52.20 and Jaykob Dieker, in the 5K small school freshman boys’ division also finished ninth with a season best time of 20:49.10.

Both Londyn Dietrich and Honesty Williams finished in the top 30 of the 5K small school sophomore girls’ race and while Aaron Long and Everett Schmidt both ran in the top 40 of the 5K freshman boys run.
Next up for the Canton/Galva runners will come on Thursday, September 19 at Herington.

5K SOPHOMORE GIRLS = 25. Londyn Dietrich – 27:00.20; 26. Honesty Williams – 27:12.70 (season best).
5K FRESHMAN GIRLS = 9. Faith McMannis – 24:52.20 (season best).
EAGLE BOYS’ INDIVIDUAL RESULTS =
5K FRESHMAN BOYS = 9. Jaycob Dieker – 20:49.10 (season best); 34. Aaron Long – 24:14.00; 40. Everett Schmidt – 25:32.70.
