C/G EAGLES LOSE SHOOTOUT 55-68 TO RURAL VISTA

CANTON – The first game of 2024/25 for the Canton/Galva boys’ basketball team gave the home fans a load of offense but were out scored by visiting Rural Vista and lost the season opener 55-68.
Rural Vista held a seven-point, 10-17 advantage after one quarter and extended the lead to eight at 22-30 heading to the halftime break. The Eagles were down 14, 32-46 after three before pulling within 13 at 55-68 at the final whistle.

The sophomore backcourt of Ethan Brozek and Kustom Schamp kept the Eagles in the game as Brozek connected on four three-pointers while leading the team in scoring with 19, including 10 points in the fourth quarter. Schamp also reached double digits with 10 points while Noah Collins just missed with nine.
Seniors Kaden Carpenter and Nathen Trayner led Rural Vista with 18 and 17 points, respectively.
Next up for the Eagles will be on Monday, December 9 when they play Little River in the first round of the Goessel Bluebird Classic.
