BROZEK SCORES 33 as EAGLES LOSE PAIR

            CANTON – While missing a game on Tuesday, January 7 due to weather, the Canton/Galva boys’ basketball team opened the 2025 parts of the schedule with a pair of losses to ranked teams in top ranked Cunningham (52-87) and fourth ranked Elyria Christian (37-43) despite Ethan Brozek scoring 33 points and connecting on 11 three-pointers.

            On Friday, January 3, sophomore guard Ethan Brozek scored 24 points, all coming on eight three-pointers, as the Eagles hosted Cunningham where they fell behind early and lost 52-87,

            Cunningham powered out to an eight-point, 15-23, first quarter lead before pushing out to a 26-47 halftime advantage. The Eagles were unable to make up any ground in the final two quarters, being outscored 24-40, in losing by 35.

            Besides Brozek’s 24 points, eight other Eagles put points in the scorebook including Kustom Schamp and Garrett Silsby each scoring six.

            On Friday, January 10 on the road at Elyria Christian, the Eagles lost a heart breaking six-point, 37-43 game.

            The Eagles held a slim, two-point, 10-8, first quarter lead before falling behind by seven, 15-22, heading into the halftime break. After pulling to within four, 26-30, by the end of the third quarter, Canton/Galva could not cut any further into the deficit and lost by six.

            Both Jase Beltz and Ethan Brozek led the team in scoring with nine points as both scored all their points from connecting with three three-pointers.

            Up next for the Eagles will be a road trip to Solomon on Tuesday, January 14.
