MCMANNIS, DIEKER MAKE STATE MEET

CANTON - It was the youngsters, freshmen Faith McMannis and Jaycob Dieker, who will have a chance to leave a mark for the Canton/Galva cross country program as they both qualified for next Saturday’s Class 1A state meet in Wamego.
McMannis, already having a terrific first season of running as a Lady Eagle, ran a 22:06.55 which placed her tenth and giving her a spot at state.
Dieker, who continues to improve as the season winds down, ran a season best time of 17:53.65 which placed him tenth in the boys 5K run, also giving him a chance to run at the state meet.
Senior Eagle, Garrett Silsby, closed out his Eagle running career with a season best time of 19:27.07 which was good for thirty-first while Corbin Parson ran forty-seventh with a time of 20:14.20.
The Canton/Galva boys fielded a team for the first time all season and placed eleventh in the team standings as two freshmen, Aaron Long and Everett Schmidt both recorded season best times of 20:42.63 and 23:05.84 while placing fiftieth and sixty-second, respectively.
