CANTON/GALVA BOYS WIN TUESDAY, LOSE THURSDAY

Finish Season 9-11

CANTON – The Canton/Galva boys closed out their 2023-24 regular season with a win on the road in Wichita on Tuesday before losing to Central Plains on Thursday on the road, leaving them with a 9-11 record for the season.

 

Beginning on Thursday, February 22, the Eagles will begin their sub-state Class 1A Division I tournament hosted  by Solomon. Other teams in their sub-state include – Goessel, Little River, Rural Vista, Solomon, Sylvan/Lucas United, and Wakefield.

 

Here is a summary of the two games.

 

CANTON/GALVA EAGLES at Wichita Central Christian Academy on Tuesday

 

On the road to play Wichita Central Christian Academy, the Eagles jumped out to a 19-10 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back. After taking a 35-20 lead into the halftime break, they extended the advantage to 23 points at 53-30 by the end of the third quarter before settling in for the final 21-point victory, 59-38.

 

Wyatt Colins led all scorers with 17 while Ethan Brozek hit three three-pointers in scoring 12 and Lane McMannis just missed double digits with nine.

 

SCORING > Eagles won 59-38 (9-10)

Eagles > 19-16-18-6 = 59;  WCCA > 10-10-10-8 = 38

CANTON/GALVA EAGLES at Central Plains on Thursday

 

On the road again on Thursday at Central Plains, Canton/Galva struggled in the first quarter as Central Plains jumped out to a 0-16 lead before going into the halftime break with an 11-30 advantage.

 

Canton/Galva just could not keep up and ended up losing by 19, 37-56.

 

Wyatt Collins was the only Eagle to reach double digits as he scored 13, thanks to connecting on three three-pointers.

 

SCORING > Eagles lost 37-56 (9-11)

Eagles > 0-11-9-12 = 37;  Central Plains > 16-14-12-14 = 56.
