Collins leads Eagles, Espinoza Leads Lady Eagles

CANTON – On Friday, the Canton/Galva boys and girls both scored wins over visiting Centre with the Eagle boys winning 53-38 and the Lady Eagles winning 57-14.

For the Lady Eagles, thy fired out to a 23-point, 27-4 lead by the end of the first quarter and held a 44-8 advantage going into the halftime break, before cruising in for the final 43-point, 57-14 victory.

Ten Lady Eagles put at least a pair of points in the scorebook with Trinity Espinoza leading the way with 19 points which including 13 in the first two quarters, while Raegan Hawkinson scored 10.

The Eagle boys game was much closer as they only held a one point, 10-9 lead at the end of the first quarter but pushed the advantage out to 11 at 29-18 by the halftime break.  Outscoring Centre 24-20 in the final two quarters, they closed out the game with a 15-point victory.

Nine Eagles put points on the board with only Wyatt Collins hitting for double digits with 18 though Jaden Ediger and Lane McMannis cam close with nine and eight, respectively.

With the wins, the Lady Eagles are not 5-2 for the season and the Eagle boys are 4-3 as they prep for a road trip to Wakefield on Tuesday to close out the pre-Christmas part of the schedule.
