HOPE – On the road for the 2023-24 season opener, the Canton/Galva boys basketball team came home with a 15-point, 75-60 victory over Rural Vista.


The Eagles opened up the game by taking a seven-point, 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter only to have Rural Vista chip a few points off to give Canton/Galva just a four-point, 32-28 advantage at the halftime break.


Canton/Galva came out of the break hot and put 25 points on the board in the third quarter to take a commanding 57-42 lead into the final quarter of play where they finished out with the final 15-point victory.


Four Eagles hit for double digits in the game, led by Lane McMannis with 13, Jase Beltz used three three-pointers to score 12 while Collins brothers Noah and Wyatt finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Canton/Galva hit six total three-pointers in the game as Jaden Ediger had a pair and Jory Ratzlaff had one to go with the three by Beltz.


Next up for the Eagles will be to compete in the Goessel Bluebird Classic beginning on Monday, December 4 with a game against host Goessel.
