McMannis Gets 3, Hoppes a Pair

BURRTON – On Tuesday, the Canton/Galva track/field teams took a trip to Burrton for an Invitational and returned home with six first-place finishes.

Eagle senior, Lane  McMannis, scored three first place finishes as he won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles as well as the javelin plus finishing second in the 200 meters.

The Eagle boys finished fourth out of six teams in the team standings thanks to Jaden Ediger taking third in the 200 meters, and Jayden Barnett finished second in the long jump.

As for the girls, the Lady Eagles finished third as both teams scored 68 points.

Leading the way for the Lady Eagles was Makinlee Hoppes who  scored gold in the 300-meter hurdles as well as the javelin while Jordyn Elliot ran first in the 100-meter hurdles as well.

Londyn Dietrich finished second behind Elliot in the 100-meter hurdles as well as finishing third in the triple jump while Trinity Espinoza ran third in the 200 meters.

On Thursday, the canton/Galva track teams  will split up with a few tracksters going to Wichita to compete while most of the team will be in Lyons at the Lyons Invitational.
