BULLPUPS THWARTED BY JUNCTION CITY

MCPHERSON – It was a tough night for the McPherson football team at home on Friday as they could not overcome three turnovers and lost to Junction City 27-2.

The only score for the Bullpups came in the third quarter when they were able to tackled the Junction City quarterback in the end zone for a two-point safety.

Junction City held McPherson to just 154 yards in offense on 62 snaps as the Bullpups turned the ball over twice on fumbles and once on a free throw. Junction City when they ran their 58 plays, rang up 291 yards while not turning the ball over.

Owen Fetsch directed the Bullpup offense but only completed eight-of-twenty-two passes for 36 yards. Carlos German ran the ball well, picking up 103 yards on 20 carries while Isaac Barnett picked up 28 yards on eight carries.

Cory Muehler was the lone receiver with more than one catch, making three for 15 yards.

Now just 1-2 on the season, the Bullpups will be on the road next Friday, September 22 to Towanda to battle Circle. Circle will come into the game 1-2 as well after getting their first win of the season Friday in beating Winfield 46-23.
