MULVANE – On Friday, the McPherson football team traveled to Mulvane and overcame an early deficit to hand Mulvane their fourth straight loss in winning 28-10.


Now 4-3 for the season, the Bullpups will next tangle with Buhler on Thursday, October 19 in Wichita at Riverfront Stadium.


Mulvane jumped out early with a field goal and a 71-yard scamper to the end zone to put McPherson in the hole 10-0.


Owen Fetsch then connected with Gunner Schumacher on a huge 91-yard pass play for a touchdown to bring the Bullpups within three and then followed up with a 10-yard pass for another score from Fetsch to Blaise Hoover to give the Bullpups a four-point, 14-10 halftime lead.


Carlos German added a pair of short runs for scores in the second half as the Bullpups hung on to get the final 28-10 win.


McPherson out gained Mulvane 359-247 on offense despite only running four more plays.


The Bullpup defense led by Brody Seidl and Teegan Haines forced Mulvane into three turnovers that included a pair of fumbles and a pass interception by Brock Richardson.


Having one of his best games of the season, Owen Fetsch completed 10-of-16 which was good for 169 years led the Bullpups offense.


The one-two punch of running backs Carlos German and Isaac Barnett kept the Mulvane defense out of step with German running for 73 yards and Barnett covering 68.
