BULLPUPS FINISH 3RD, 4TH AT AVCTL CROSS COUNTRY MEET

Patterson, Whorton, Muehler Earn Medals

WICHITA – On Thursday in the wind, the McPherson cross country team managed to put together good enough times to earn three individual varsity medals and place third and fourth in the team standings at the AVCTL (Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League) Meet.

“We continued to put together solid performances and times although we fought very windy conditions,” pointed out Bullpup head coach Nikolous Rempe during some thoughts about the league meet.

For the Lady Bullpups, the team finished third behind Buhler and Winfield in the team standings as Lexi Patterson placed tenth and Reesa Whorton finished fourteenth. Both Patterson and Whorton medaled in the meet and earned second team All-League honors.

Lindley Jex ran sixth in the girls junior varsity race to earn a medal as well.

Caleb Muehler continued to have a strong season as he ran fourth in the boys division to not only earn a medal but to also gain first-team All-League honors. Both Kayden Friesen and Garrett Floyd finished in the top twenty out of 35 runners while Micaiah Stevenson placed ninth in the junior varsity boys run.

The Bullpup boys finished fourth overall in the team standings behind Buhler, Circle and Augusta.

Coach Rempe concluded his reflections by adding, “Both teams have been putting together solid practices, all of which should pay off at regionals next week.”

The Bullpup runners will be at Buhler on Saturday, October 21 for their Class 4A State Regionals before hopefully qualifying to run at the Class 4A State Meet on Saturday, October 28 in Wamego, Kansas.
