BULLDOG’S FIGUEROA EARNS NATIONAL/CONFERENCE AWARDS

NATIONAL & CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK!!

McPHERSON – McPherson College Bulldog, Nehemiah Figueroa, a junior defensive safety, has been named both the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week as well as the KCAC Defensive Player of the Week following a career day on Saturday, September 2.

This is the second straight week that the Bulldogs have had a conference Player of the Week and this first national honor for the 2023 season.

“It was a really great performance,” noted Bulldog head coach Jeremiah Fiscus. “A fumble recovery and two takeaways in a clutch situation really gave our team an opportunity to go win the game.”

Figueroa, a native of Boyertown, Pennsylvania, had an interception on each of the final two Sterling College drives to seal the 34-31 comeback victory for the Bulldogs. Figueroa also made three solo tackles and was credited with his first career fumble recovery as well.

With three interceptions on the season, Figueroa stands along at the top of the NAIA in the category.
