BULLDOG KICKERS OPEN SEASON AT BAKER

BALDWIN CITY, KS – It was not how they were hoping it would go last Saturday when the McPherson College men’s soccer team traveled to battle Baker Univrsity in their 2023 season opener and ended up losing 3-1.


Baker took an early lead just 93 seconds into the game when Axxel Cahzaro-Lara took an assist from Ernesto Hernandz and put a ball in the net.


The Bulldog’s Abdul Kanu responded at the 16:42 mark when he took a rebound from a free kick by Anthony Pereira and tied the game up with a score.


Baker added two more goals, one at the 36:19 mark by Gyorge Kamarus off a penalty kick, and another from Hunter French on an assist by Tony Salas at 50:31 in the second half to get the final 3-1 win.


Baker had 19 shots in the game though only eight were on goal while McPherson totaled just six shots with two on goal.


Anthony Pereira led the Bulldogs with three shots and Camden Wiseman worked the goal, making five saves in his first career start.


Next up for the Bulldog men will come on Wednesday, August 30 when they make their 2023 home field debut hosting Briar Cliff.
