BOTH LITTLE RIVER TRACK/FIELD TEAMS TAKE 2ND AT STERLING

Teams Combine for 11 First-Place Medals

STERLING – On Tuesday, the Little River track/field teams headed to Sterling where they ran, threw, and jumped to a pair of second-place team finishes  while coming home with 12 first-place medals with the Lady Redskins winning seven and the Redskin boys earning five.

The Lady Redskins rolled up 134 team points to finish second to Halstead with 138 points. Sterling, Hutchinson Central Christian, Haven, and Moundridge rounded out the six-team field.

Sisters Havana and Aubrey Olander led the Lady Redskins with both winning a pair of first-place medals, Havana won both the long jump and triple jump while Abrey ran first in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.

Ashley Stephenson in the 800 meters, Kate Ellwood in the pole vault, plus the 4x100 meter relay quartet of Alaina Eck, Kami Grasser, Stephenson, and Havana Olander also scored first-place medals at the meet.

The Little River girls also recorded  five individual and one relay team placing second as well.

In the boy’s division, Little River also took second in the team standings with 110 points. Halstead won the boys division with 144 points.

Much of the scoring came from a clean sweep of all three of the relays as the Redskins running the 4x100-, 4x400-, and 4x800-meter relays took first place along with individual wins by Andrew Smith in the 100 meters, and Jhet Ewertt in the triple jump.

Andrew Smith also ran second in both the 200- and 400-meters while Cole Dieball finished runner-up in the discus.
