8th GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS OPEN WITH 4 WINS

BOTH ‘A’ & ‘B’ TEAM WIN PAIR

MCPHERSON – The 2023 season has begun for the McPherson Middle School 8th grade girls basketball teams, and they won a pair of games both Tuesday and Thursday over Salina Lakewood and Mulvane.

On Monday against Salina Lakewood, the ‘A’ team scored a decisive 41-5 victory while the ‘B’ team won 17-8 in only a half-game competition.

The ‘A’ team was led by Amarie Lowery with 11 points, Kennedy Bonham with five rebounds and Audra Sandbo with six assists and six steals.

In the ‘B’ game, Sandbo and Lowery each scored five points.

Against Mulvane on Thursday, the ‘A’ team won by 14, 29-15 while the ‘B’ team won by eight, 14-6.

Audra Sandbo had a huge game as she scored five points, dished out four assists, made five steals and grabbed 10 rebounds. Amarie Lowery led the team in scoring with eight and Kennedy Bonham tied for the lead in rebounds with 10.

For the ‘B’ game, Karlie Cooper led the scoring with six points.

Next up for the 8th grade Junior Lady Pup hoopsters will be on the road three times as they travel to Rose Hill on Monday, go to Buhler Prairie Hills on Tuesday before finishing up the week on Thursday at Wellington.
