7th-GRADE JUNIOR LADY PUPS GO 3-1

Sweep Augusta, Split with Prairie Hills

MCPHERSON – On Monday, the McPherson Middle School seventh-grade volleyball team hosted Augusta and Prairie Hills and finished the day going 3-1.


The ‘A’ team won both matches while the ‘B’ team defeated Augusta but lost to Prairie Hills.


The seventh-grade Junior Lady Pups were scheduled to play Emporia on Tuesday.


‘A’ Team Goes 2-0………


Against Augusta, the seventh-grade Junior Lady Pups needed three sets to get the win, taking set one 25-17, while Augusta won set two 21-25, before McPherson rebounded and took the third set 15-12 to win the match overall.


After a hard fought, two-point, 25-23 win in the first set with Prairie Hills, the Junior Lady Pups buried their opponent in the second set, 25-5, to get the sweep of matches on the day.


“During both of these matches our serve/receive was absolutely amazing,” explained seventh-grade Junior Lady Pup head coach Destiny Espinoza. “Our offense really stepped up at the net and really took care of business. We definitely are taking steps in the right direction, and I am excited for our games in Emporia.”


The coaches acknowledged both Averie Church for her serv/received leadership and Everlee Buchman for serving 13 points in a row, including a stretch of four service aces in a row.


The ‘A’ team is now 5-2 on the season.


‘B’ Team gets a split…….


It was a straight set win for the ‘B’ team against Augusta, winning 25-14 and 25-23, earning them their first win of the young season.

According to the coach’s, Beyleigh Anderson had an impressive 20 service aces against Agusta to help the team earn their first win of the season.


Prairie Hills handed the seventh-grade Junior Lady Pups ‘B’ team a straight set loss, winning 19-25 and 10-25.


According to ‘B’ team coach Amelia Broadfoot, “The ‘B’ team got a win against Augusta but came up a little short with a very tough Prairie Hills team. We had some great volleys and got quite a few kills.”
