19 AREA YOUTH RIDE AT CKYRA EVENT

CANTON – In their final two-day event of the regular season and a makeup for the rainout in June, the Central Kansas Youth Rodeo Association (CKYRA) held a two-day event at the McPherson County Fairgrounds in Canton on Saturday and Sunday where 19 county youth participated.

On Saturday, the 19 local youth entered 27 events, finished in the top-five 40 times and won eight outright.

Getting event wins on Saturday were Korbin Hogg and Kinley Clinkscale, both of Canton, in the 2-4 Division Breakaway Steer and Goats/Girls, respectively.

Four locals won in the 5-8 Division as Avery Weis of Marquette won the Pole Bending, Lennon Graber of Moundridge took first in Barrel Racing, Makynna Allenbach of Moundridge won the Goats/Girls and Wesley Prieb of Moundridge took first in the Tie Down Sled Ro.

Keaton Ryan and Katy Prieb, both of Canton, scored wins in the 9-12 Division with Rayn taking first in the Chute Dogging and Prieb winning the Goat Tying.

For the second day of the CKYRA weekend, the area youth were entered in 28 events and gained 43 top-five finishes along with four number one endings.

Korbin Hogg won both the Calf Riding and Pole Bending in the 2-4 Division while Avery Weis took first in Barrel Racing in the 5-8 Division and Wyatt Henry of Canton finished first in Chute Dogging of the 9-12 Division.

Through five two-day rodeo events for the CKYRA, area youth are listed in the top-five of 40 event leaderboards covering 23 events including nine event leaders.

Among the event leaders is Levi Henry who leads both the 5-8 Breakaway and Goats/Boys while Kaylee Rafaelsen of McPherson tops both the 5-8 Pole Bending and Goats/Girls.

Lakyn Allenbach of Moundridge is the leader of both the 9-12 Goat Tying and Pole Bending while Wesley Prieb leads in 5-8 Tie Down Sled Ro and Korbin Hogg is the leader of the 2-4 Goats/Girls.

Fifteen area rodeo youth sit in the top-six of their division all-around standings including four who sit in the number one position. Korbin Hogg leads all 2-4 girls, Levi Henry leads the 5-8 boys, Kaylee Rafaelsen leads the 5-8 girls and Keaton Ryan is number one in 9-12 boys.

Next weekend on Saturday and Sunday, August 12-13, the CKYRA will hold their 2023 season final rodeo event in Canton.
