17 GOLDS FOR AREA ATHLETES AT CKYRA RODEO

      On Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, the Central Kansas Youth Rodeo Association (CKYRA) held a pair of rodeo events in Canton where 17 times McPherson County rodeo athletes finished first.

      In the 0-1 Division, Hayden Hogg of Canton won Sheep Riding on Saturday and Dummy Roping on Sunday.

      Canton’s Ansleigh Hogg scored wins in the Goats (girls) on both Saturday and Sunday in the 2-4 Division.

      The 5-8 Division had five first place wins with Kinley Clinkscale of Canton getting a pair, winning Pole Bending on Saturday and Barrel Racing on Sunday. On Sunday, Canton athletes scored three more wins with Rustin Ayres scoring a win for Bareback Steers, Linkin Blaylock getting a gold in Steer Riding and Korbin Hogg winning Team Heading.

For the high schoolers, eight times area athletes took first place titles, including three winning twice each.

Lennon Graber of Moundridge scored a win in Barrel Racing on both Saturday and Sunday, while Payton Wilson, also from Moundridge, got a first place win in Goat Tying on Saturday before scoring a win in Pole Bending on Sunday. Canton’s Wesley Prieb won in Chute Dogging on Saturday and took a first-place win in Tie Down Roping on Sunday. Baylee Hall of Inman won in Pole Bending on Saturday while Liam Krehbiel of McPherson won Bull Riding on Sunday.

The CKYRA has two more weekend of events with a re-schedule of June’s events for the weekend of Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9 before they close out the summer with a pair of final rodeos on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16.
