WILDCATS SWEEP HUTCH TRINITY

Win 15-5 & 5-2

MOUNDRIDGE – Hosting Hutchinson Trinity on Tuesday, the Moundridge baseball team scored a pair of victories, winning  both ends of the doubleheader, 15-5 and 5-2.

In game one it was all Moundridge as the Wildcats spotted Hutchinson Trinity a 4-2 lead after two innings  before putting two on the board in the fourth, six in the fifth and another five in the sixth to earn the final 10-run, 15-5 win.

Layton Schmidt had a huge game as he went 4-for-5 and drove across six runs with a fifth inning triple after doubling in the first.

Both Clay Wilson and Isaac Durst chipped in with two hits each while Logan Greenwalt also pounded out a double. Wilson and Kepple Adolf each scored three times.

London Ward and Isaac Durst worked the mound for Moundridge, throwing a combined 131 pitches and striking out six while only giving up one earned run.

In the nightcap, the Wildcats scored three runs in the  bottom of the fifth to take the 5-2 lead which turned out to  be the final score and win.

Logan Greenwalt went 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs batted in while Atley Lichti and Finn Litecum pitched for the Wildcats, using 125 pitches, giving up just one earned run and walking three while striking out a combined nine.

Now 9-3 for the season, the Wildcats will go on the road Friday to Ell-Saline.
