On Friday, the Little River football team played a slugfest I their 8-Man, Division I sectional matchup with Sylvan/Lucas, losing 44-50 and finishing the 2025 season 9-1.
Sylvan/Lucas will take their 10-1 mark to the state semi-finals to play Lincoln, also 10-1. The other 8-man, division I semi-final matchup will be between unbeaten (10-0) South Central and 10-1 Hill City for a spot in the state championship game.
Niney-four points lit up the scoreboard with Little River scoring on a Jaxson Konen run in the first quarter and Jaren Garrison run in the second only to trail 28-16 at halftime.
Sylvan/Lucas and Little River put 42 points on the board in the third quarter with Little River getting a pair of scores from Jaren Garrison and one from Jhet Ewertt, putting them 14 points behind, 36-50, going into the final quarter where Jaxson Konen added one more score.
Little River rolled up 444 yards of offense on 58 offensive plays that included 130 passing and 314 rushing, led by Jaxson Konen throwing for 110 yards while completing seven-of-ten passes, and Jhet Ewertt running for 98 yards on ten carries. Garrison and Konen pitched in with 94 and 85 yards rushing as well.
Defensively, Jhet Ewertt was busy making 12 tackles of which nine were solo stops. Both Jake White and Garrison recorded eight tackles with Konen and Bryson VanEaton each getting seven. The Redskins gave up 450 yards to Sylvan/Lucas on 60 offensive snaps.
