Winsor hits Home Run

MOUNDRIDGE – On Tuesday, the Moundridge softball team split a pair of games with at home with visiting Marion, losing game one 13-14 before bouncing back for a decisive 15-2 win in game two.

MOUNDRIDGE LADY WILDCAT SOFTBALL hosting Marion
GAME 1 > SCORING > Lady Wildcats Lost 13-14
Marion > 1-0-1-0-0-0-12 = 14-14-3; Lady Wildcats > 3-1-0-0-4-1-4 = 13-5-2.
In game one, the Lady Wildcats led 8-2 after six innings before Marion poured across 12 runs in the top of the seventh, leaving Moundridge with a 9-14 deficit which they could not overcome.
Coach Lynn Eichelberger Reflections > “In the first game, we had two lightning delays and could not keep the momentum going. It is hard on pitchers having to warm up three times, then we could not get the final out and ended up too far behind in the bottom of the seventh.”
Sam Stausz led the Lady Wildcat bats as she went 2-for-2 with three walks, three runs batted in and three scores, including a triple among her hits. Kinslie Koller hit a double.
Lela Winsor worked the mound for Moundridge and struck out 10 in the loss.

In game two, the Lady Wildcats jumped out to an 8-2 lead after two innings and then extended it to 14-2 after three before adding a run in the third to get the run rule victory.
Coach Eichelberger’s Reflections > “We played much better in the second game as the score does indicate. Sam Strausz continues to hit the ball well while Mac Soden drove in five runs in the nightcap.”
Stausz, Winsor, Macy Kaminkow each had a pair of hits in game two with Winsor hitting a home run and Mac Soden pounding out a double.
Winsor was on the mound and needed just 74 pitches to get the win, holding Marion to just four hits, one earned run and walking just two while striking out four.
