TEUTONS SNEAK PAST REMINGTON, 30-26
By Staff
REMINGTON – It was lots of offensive excitement, several big runs and in the end, the Inman football team pulled through it all to win a close, hard-fought battle on the road at Remington, 30-26.
It was a game of lead changes and long scoring plays including a Teuton score off a 49-yard pass from Caleb Bigler to Kru Harris in the first quarter. Remington quickly bounced back and scored on a 63-yard run of their own, to tie the game at 6-6.
While Malachi Brunk scored twice in the second quarter for the Teutons, Remington scored twice as well and as they made one of their extra-point kicks, the Broncos went into halftime with a 13-12 advantage.
Korbyn McClellan raced into the end zone from 60 yards out in the third quarter to give the lead back to Inman at 24-19.
Caleb Bigler threw his second touchdown pass of the game in the fourth quarter, this time to Gage Sisson to give Inman a cushion lead at 30-19 before Remington scored on one more long run, giving the Teutons their final winning margin of four at 30-26.
If you like offense, this was the game to be at as the two teams combined to run 116 offensive plays covering 916 total yards, including 614 on the ground.
Inman had 502 yards in offense, running 66 plays, with Caleb Bigler having a career day at quarterback throwing for 173 yards on 13-of-20 passes with the pair of touchdowns and one interception. Kru Harris caught seven of the passes for 91 yards and Gage Sisson had three receptions for 50 yards.
The Teutons ran for 329 yards, led by Malachi Brunk and Korbyn McClellan who both went over 100 yard as Brunk finished with 164 and McClellan ran for 134.
Remington rang up 414 yards on offense with 129 coming through the air and 285 on the ground.
Cooper Wiens led the Teutons in tackles with eight with Sebastian Martinez recording six and both Dylan Larson and Carston Seidl each making five.
Now 3-1 for the season, the Teutons will play host to Marion, who was the seventh ranked team in Class 1A heading into last Friday’s game where they lost to Sedgwick, 35-8.
